Ciao Sorrento, a once popular Italian restaurant, has unfortunately closed its doors. Known for its authentic Italian cuisine and charming ambiance, Ciao Sorrento was a beloved dining destination among locals and tourists alike. With its warm and inviting atmosphere, the restaurant provided a cozy setting for guests to enjoy a memorable dining experience. Whether indulging in delectable steaks, savoring a glass of fine wine, or savoring the famous tiramisu, Ciao Sorrento never failed to deliver exceptional flavors and impeccable service. First visit in a long time. Friendly welcome from staff, had booked our table, but a couple of walk ins during our visit, but booking advisable. Ordered calamari fritti and deep fried breadcrumbed mushrooms with mozzarella to share, starters were tasty and freshly made. Carafe of white wine in a luvly jug. Mains, Penne Bersagllera and Pasta Al Ferne (house speciality) first time having the house speciality as I always have their Lasagne , but so glad I went for a change, it was Delicious so tasty and full of flavour will definitely have again, also shared garlic bread, sorry no photos too busy enjoying our mains, finished off with an Irish coffee and a cappuccino. This is a great family run, quant wee restaurant, great atmosphere and food, All the staff were luvly, chatty and friendly, all under the watchful eye of the luvly owner Tommaso , won't be so long again till our next visit. Thank you all for a very enjoyable visit. :) :)
This place is absolutely wonderful. It’s down to earth and unpretentious, classic Italian food. I find that Italian restaurants often overcompensate by adding lots of ingredients and giving you massive portions, but Ciao Sorrento was nothing like that. The food was absolutely stunning, and was basic but delicious, with portions that were reasonable. They also did a litre of house wine for just under £20, which was really good. The garlic bread with mozzarella was also fantastic. I found the coffees to be very nice, and the tiramisu was delicious as well. With the receipt they also gave us a small Italian biscuit, which was a nice touch. The waiter was very friendly, and the whole place has a family feel. They even managed to get us in 45 minutes before our reservation, which was really good. It’s small inside, but it didn’t feel crowded. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, it made for a truly fantastic night!
Extremely brilliant service and food!!! I think it's a very authentic Italian flavour. 😋
Unhappy customer!!
Went with my husband while on a trip to dundee. Starter lovely. Then main course came!! My pasta tasted of burnt garlic. Did not complain at the time because we were out for a special meal and didnt want to spoil it. Told the waiter when he collected plates and nothing more was said about it. Manager was there before we were leaving and he said that he cooked it and it wasnt burnt. Calling me a liar!! I was very offended. I have burnt garlic myself so know what it tastes like lol..very unhappy that manager would speak to customer that way. Bill was over £80 so i think he should have been grateful. If i was looking for a freebie i would have complained at the start and not ate it..very bad customer service. Would not recommend!!
Always a warm welcome at Ciao Sorrento with very attentive and helpful staff.
Food arrived promptly and was delicious, the red House wine which accompanied the meal was mellow and very drinkable.
Definitely worth a visit and we'll be back in October.
Our favourite Italian restaurant in Dundee. Lovely traditional Italian food served by the friendly staff. The menu is varied and we like to try a different meal each time we visit.
Its nice to sit in this small restaurant as it has a lovely atmosphere while we enjoy the food.
We went mid week, it was fairly busy, a couple of tables were still available but we felt very rushed. We hadn't even paid the bill and they were clearing our table. Two of our party felt their pizzas were rather bland, my bolognese was OK. We were looking forward to catching up in a relaxed atmosphere....didn't quite get that. Won't be back. Sooo disappointed.
Very nice food, I had the seafood risotto, delicious and the seafood was cooked perfectly... Nice wine, the staff were friendly and service was quick, can't really say a bad word about the place.
